INVOLVEMENT IN RESEARCH
I was fortunate to be selected in 2000 to attend the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) Training Course for Nurse
Scientists. This course provided a firm foundation for developing and implementing my research interests. My primary
involvement in research is in study design, power analysis, and statistical analysis.
• I do provide assistance with research design and statistical analysis for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students at
Sinclair School of Nursing.
• In 2014 and 2015, I provided a three-part overview of statistics for the MU pediatric residents. I also participate in the
weekly Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) conference for the MU Department of Child Health Pediatric Residents. My
role is to assist the residents in understanding the EBM and statistical aspects of the research articles.
• In conjunction with my husband, Dr. Michael Sherman, I assist with an annual summer research fellowship for MU
medical students. My role is to teach the use of SPSS for data analysis, database management, and statistical analysis.
